Is This Voice Real? How Vishvas News Caught the Rajnath Singh Deepfake

The video was posted on Facebook on October 31, 2026 and used to criticize the government over the border situation. Vishvas News ran four checks:

  1. Find the original. A Google Lens search on the video’s keyframes led to the genuine clip, posted by ANI on X on October 26, 2026. In it, the minister speaks about a completely different subject.
  2. Check official sources. PIB Fact Check, the Indian government’s fact-checking unit, said the video was manipulated with AI and that the minister made no such statement.
  3. Run AI audio detectors. UncovAI rated the audio 100% likely to be AI-generated, and the tool Hiya gave 97%.
  4. Ask a specialist unit. The Deepfakes Analysis Unit, part of the TIA initiative, ran the audio through the Aurigin tool, which rated it 95% likely to be AI.

Three independent tools agreeing with the original footage and an official statement is a strong case. Vishvas News concluded the video is a deepfake.

How to Check If Audio Is AI-Generated: 5 Steps

  1. Find the original clip. Search keyframes with Google Lens or another reverse search. A genuine video with a different topic is a clear sign the sound was swapped.
  2. Check official and fact-checking sources. Governments and fact-checkers often publish denials within hours.
  3. Listen for mismatches. Unnatural rhythm, flat emotion or a voice that doesn’t fit the lip movements can be warning signs, but good fakes may not have them.
  4. Run it through UncovAI or another AI voice detector. Upload the audio or video to an AI voice detector and read the probability score.
  5. Use more than one tool. When a claim is sensitive, compare several detectors, as the fact-checkers did here.

What Does a 100% AI Audio Score Mean?

Key point

A detector score is a probability, not proof on its own. It is most reliable when other evidence points the same way.

UncovAI’s 100% means it rated the audio as almost certainly AI-generated. Vishvas News did not rely on that alone: it also had the original footage, an official statement and two more detectors. We recommend treating every AI audio detector the same way, ours included.

UncovAI takes no position on politics and had no role in Vishvas News’s editorial conclusions. This article doesn’t imply a partnership.

FAQ: Checking Whether a Voice Is AI

Is the Rajnath Singh video about the India-China standoff real?

No. Vishvas News found the video is a deepfake: AI-generated audio was added to a genuine clip of Rajnath Singh speaking about something else. India's PIB Fact Check also said he made no such statement. UncovAI rated the audio 100% likely to be AI-generated.

How do I check if audio or a voice is AI-generated?

Find the original video, check official or fact-checking sources, and run the audio through an AI voice detector or AI audio detector such as UncovAI. Use more than one tool when the stakes are high, and treat every score as supporting evidence.

What does 100% AI audio mean?

It means the detector rates the audio as almost certainly AI-generated. Even then it is a probability, so fact-checkers combine it with other evidence, as Vishvas News did with two further detectors, the original footage and an official statement.

Can a real video have fake audio?

Yes. This case is an example: the picture came from a real speech, but the voice track was replaced with AI-generated audio. That is why you should check the sound as well as the image.

Can UncovAI check voice notes and audio?

Yes. UncovAI is an AI content detector for text, images, video and voice. The deepfake Telegram bot also verifies voice notes, photos and videos inside Telegram.
