2026 US Midterm Elections on X: Pro-Trump vs. Pro-Democrat Disinformation and Engagement Data
Pro-Trump and pro-Democrat posts are running almost even in volume ahead of the November 2026 midterms — but pro-Trump content is pulling roughly twice the engagement, and carrying most of the misleading claims.
UncovAI analyzed 6,162 X posts from 4,169 accounts, Aug 30 – Sep 10, 2026. Volume was nearly balanced (1.02:1), but pro-Trump content captured ~53% of likes vs. 27% for Democrats — roughly a 2:1 engagement gap. 8 of the 12 highest-reach flagged claims were pro-Trump or right-populist. Explicitly pro-Russian content was marginal; the dominant "Europe is collapsing" narrative was driven by US and UK influencers, not Russian-state accounts.
Is There More Pro-Trump or Pro-Democrat Content on X Ahead of the 2026 Midterms?
Pro-Trump and pro-Democrat tweets are nearly matched by raw volume (1.02:1), but pro-Trump content pulls almost twice the engagement — 53% of likes vs. 27%. About a quarter of that comes from official Trump/GOP accounts; strip those out and the gap still holds around 1.5:1. Nearly all of it opened in a single five-day window (Sep 6–10), driven by imported European migration virals, the RNC convention, and the "$5,000 Trump dividend" storyline.

Each camp is pre-emptively questioning whether the result will be legitimate — months before votes are counted.

|---|---|
| Fraud: DHS "voter-fraud surges," noncitizens "caught voting," recycled 2020 claims | Suppression: ~92 Tarrant County polling sites closed, USPS mail-ballot order, ICE at polls |
